Widow Traveler is not your typical travel site. I initially came up with the idea of a travel blog to enable my  family and friends to follow me on my greatest adventure to date, a two week driving tour along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. However the more I thought about the site content, the more  I  realized I wanted this site to be so much more than just a travel blog.

By definition, the word travel means to go on a journey. I wanted to share my four year journey of  self discovery with the hope that anyone dealing with loss will find solace in knowing they are not alone.

I want to make it clear that I am not an expert on loss.  This is not a how to guide on surviving the death of a loved one.  We all grieve in our own way and find our new normal at different times.
